John Born Lectures for the Parent Assembly on November 4th, 2005

Hailing from Kansas City, Missouri John Born  has already garnered national attention for his coin work. He published a book and CD-ROM titled Matrix God’s Way that has some incredible visual coin magic. This past year saw the release of a 3 DVD project in which he taught new coin routines as well as some of his card magic.

The lecture is presented in four parts. In the first, he will perform and teach material for restaurant and strolling work. The second focuses on "prepared" impromptu magic. This is material that is not for your formal or paid performances, but effects that you would do when you are out and about. This section includes sleight of hand based material as well as mentalism and metal bending techniques.

The third section is about material for the formal show. This is some of John’s strongest material and includes his work on the "Barehanded" Matrix (aka Chink-A-Chink) and the Card At Any Number. The final section deals with new techniques for coin workers. These begin with basic material that can be easily handled by the novice and progress into hardcore sleights for the "coin junkies". In addition, John will perform a few effects that will not be explained, but shown simply for your amazement and enjoyment. If you are looking for new close-up material of any type, you don’t want to miss this lecture.

John has four more DVDs that will be out by the end of the year, and one more book focused on the any card ay any number plot that will also feature material from Allan Ackerman, Ken Krenzel, Banachek, Luke Jermay, Martin Joyal, Tony Miller, Mike Powers, Joshua Jay, and Jason Dean. He will also be featured at this year's LMVI, Midwest Magic Jubilee, and Coin Con 2006 in Vegas.

The lecture will take place at 8 PM on Friday, November 4th, at the Soldiers', Sailors', Marines' and Airmen's Club, 283 Lexington Avenue (between 36th and 37th Streets), 2nd Floor, New York, New York.
