Richard Turner to Lecture for the Parent Assembly on May 4th

Friday, May 4, SAM #1 presents the incredible Richard Turner. Richard performed
on the old That’s Incredible TV show 27 years ago. He is no less incredible
today than he was back then, not only as a magician, but as a person. He is one
of the foremost experts on gambling sleights…you know…A Cheat! But he is an
honest cheat and only demonstrates these skills for entertainment purposes. Mr.
Turner has also earned a Fifth Degree Black Belt in Karate. And all of this
despite the fact that his vision is four times lower than what is considered to
be legally blind. Richard has appeared on countless television shows the world
over, as well as performing for many of the top corporations. He lectures very
rarely, so this promises to be a very special evening.
Richard will begin by performing his Magic Castle show in which he demonstrates
the most difficult card moves in the world. After that, it’s all up to you.
Richard has agreed to let the attendees decide what they want to see and
learn…and boy is there a lot to choose from. False shuffles including a tabled
Faro Strip out and a one handed strip-out false shuffle. A variety of shifts,
hops, partial shifts and passes. Riffle Shuffle stacking and run-ups. False
deals including many different Seconds, Thirds, Fourths, Bottoms and Centers.
Palming and Mucks. Then there are a whole variety of fans and flourishes,
including false cut and shuffle flourishes. And as if that weren’t enough, he is
equally skilled at Coin Flourishes including an eight coin roll and simultaneous
coin rolls with the coins going in different directions in one hand.
