The History of Magic Through Performance by Marc DeSouza

Marc DeSouzaFollowing, the June 1st meeting, Marc DeSouza will be presenting The History of Magic Through Performance, a lecture/performance taking the audience through a whirlwind history of Magic. Starting at the very beginnings of the Art, Marc's presentation is punctuated with the use of slideshow illustrations and actual performances of historically significant magic. From ancient Egypt, to the Middle Ages, through Vaudeville, to present day, you will be entranced by such classics of magic as The Cups and Balls, The Linking Rings and The Egg Bag, as well as rarely seen routines and apparatus such as Hofzinser's Everywhere and Nowhere and The Nixon Checker Cabinet. At the conclusion, there will be ample time for questions. As this is a magician's gathering, Marc will be happy to discuss some of the handlings for the effects. The meeting is open to Parent Assembly #1 members and their guests.

When: Friday, June 1, 2007, 7:45 PM

Where: Mt. Sinai Medical Center, 1425 Madison Avenue, at 98th Street, New York, NY

Free to S.A.M. Parent Assembly #1 members and guests

There will be a special Q&A for magicians-only after the show and lecture.
