Howard Schwarzman—Magician of the Year

ASSEMBLY #1 of the Society of American Magicians has named Howard Schwarzman
its 2007 Magician of the Year. The official presentation of the award will
be made at the 98th Annual Salute to Magic show which will take place on May
12, 2007 at the Heckscher Theater in New York.
Mr. Schwarzman has been a member of the Assembly for 45 years and has
distinguished himself in the magic community as one of the top card
magicians of the 20th century.
Originally from New York, Mr. Schwarzman was one of the founders of Future
American Magical Entertainers (FAME), a New York City young magicians club
in the 1940s which was mentored by Abe Hurwitz. Now living in Baltimore,
Maryland, Mr. Schwarzman continues to be an active member of the magic
community as an innovator, writer, and performer. In addition to being one
of the most knowledgeable card magicians in the country, he also flies his
own plane and is a talented piano player.
