PA#1 Welcomes New Members
New York, New York
On Friday April 6th David Sharlin with his lovely new wife Linda returned to
the S.A.M. Magic Table after many years. David shared stories of the old
Table and his friend Mike Bornstein. He joined an afternoon of sharing magic
and good conversation with Eric DeCamps, Richard Bossong, Isaac Rodriguez,
Jerry Oppenhiemer, Sal Perrotta, Rabbi Noach Valley, and myself. Card master
Dr. Bill Nagler also was in town for the day. The Table meets Fridays from
12:30 on for lunch at the Edison Hotel Café on 47th Street between 7th and
8th Avenue in Times Square.
Our monthly meeting was held that same evening at Mount Sinai in upper
Manhattan. Harvey Berg’s Teach-a-Trick, which started at 6:30, was well
attended. By 7:15 it was time for our MI President Ken Schwabe start the
meeting. As usual in April the Assembly selected the Nominating Committee
for our upcoming elections. The next order of business was to swear in three
new members. Steven Hom, Michael Bastone and Glenn Gazin having completing
their interviews and now sworn in they were warmly welcomed by the club. A
report by the Archive Committee stated that our entire archive has now been
cataloged after much work. The members gave us a nice round of applause.
President Schwabe reported on the upcoming lectures by Marc Oberon, Richard
Turner, and Howard Schwarzman. He also asked for vote to send Tom Klem the
Chairman of the Parent Assembly’s Board to be one of our three Council
members to attend the Annual National Meeting in Dallas.
Our after meeting event was a close-up show by the membership produced by
2nd VP George Sliverman. It started with some fine work by Wesley James.
Arie Vilner. Dr. Jerry Waye, Harvey Berg, Ken Ferst, Josh Rand all performed
as well as George Silverman with of all things a Harvey Berg book test. It
was a good night for all.
